What is a Vector?
Vector files are images created using a series of "points" or nodes that are connected by lines, circles, curves and polygons to create shapes. These shapes are "editable" meaning that when used in a vector "drawing" application like Illustrator, or Corel Draw, the shape's attributes such as colors and lines be changed. In addition to being editable, vector images are device-independent which means they are scalable to any size without effecting the final resolution of the image. The image will always print to the maximum resolution of the output device used.

What's the Difference between Raster and Vector?
Scalability is the most significant difference between raster and vector files. Photos and scanned images are the best examples of raster or bitmap images and if you have ever tried to scale a small raster file to a very large size, you've seen how the pixels that define the image become blurry. The scalability of vector files make them the ideal graphics
format for both simple and composite drawings that need to be device-independent.

And why are Vectors so great?
Scalability and customization through editing make vector images the ideal format for many graphic design projects including:
Logos
Icons
Spot Illustrations
Infographics
Patterned backgrounds
Web design objects and elements

What if I just want a JPEG?
Wannapik has you covered if you only want a JPEG file. All Wannapik vector files are also available in the popular raster PNG format which provides the benefit of background transparency (JPEG images will always be rectangular with white as the background color).

What formats are the vectors in?
Wannapik vectors are available in the following vector formats:
AI Adobe Illustrator format
SVG Scalable Vector Graphics format
EMF Enhanced Metafile format
WMF Windows Metafile format

What applications support vector files?
Wannapik vector images can be used in popular applications including Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Inkscape, Xara Xtreme and CorelDraw.

Can I use vector images in Photoshop?
Recent versions of raster editors such as Adobe Photoshop support some vector editing tools. Just drag and drop the vector into your application and define the size that you want for the image.
